We actively promote a positive working environment where teamwork, transparency and customer service are our key principles.PositionQuantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity SurveyorReporting toCommercial DirectorLocationHAMILTONAbout the RoleAs Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will seek to minimise the cost and risk of a construction project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required legal standards and quality. This includes ensuring statutory building regulations are met.You will prepare estimates and costs of the work and when the project is in progress, you will keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability.Working either in an office or on site, you will be involved in every stage of a project. Projects include commercial, industrial, and residential constructions.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies to ensure their proposals will workPrepare and analyse project costings for tenders, such as materials, quantities, labour, and timePrepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the clientNegotiate contracts and work schedulesAllocate work to subcontractors and oversee their work at all stages of the constructionPerform risk, value management and cost control during constructionUndertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project workAdvise on a procurement strategyIdentify, analyse, and develop responses to commercial risksProvide advice on contractual claims and disputesAnalyse outcomes and write detailed progress reportsValue completed work, oversee bills, and arrange paymentsMaintain awareness of the different building contracts in current useUnderstand the implications of health and safety regulationsCandidate RequirementsSkillsMinimum 5 years experience. xjdpvnf Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear reports to convey complex information in a straightforward way to a diverse range of peopleStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop relationshipsNumerical and data analysis skillsA creative and innovative approach to problem solvingIT skills and the ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packagesTeamwork skills and the ability to motivate and lead those on siteProject management skillsResilience, determination, and the ability to work well under pressureGood commercial awarenessA practical, logical, and methodical approach to workAttention to detailDetailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, processes, materials, business, and legal matters.EducationEither an undergraduate degree accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in quantity surveying, commercial management, or a related construction subjectPostgraduate conversion course (usually a Pg Dip or a masters) accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)Previous employment as a Quantity Surveyor over an extended period
