With a strong reputation for quality, consistency, and long-term client relationships, the business continues to grow and offers excellent opportunities for career development within a supportive and professional environment.Your new role: Our client is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a background or strong interest in groundworks and residential infrastructure to join their commercial team. This role will support Senior Quantity Surveyors in managing the financial aspects of multiple housing developments, offering hands-on exposure and a clear pathway for progression.Responsibilities will include:Assisting with the commercial management of groundworks and housing infrastructure projectsSupporting the preparation of interim valuations, variations, and final accountsAssisting with subcontractor procurement, administration, and payment processesMonitoring project costs and supporting with budget tracking and reportingHelping to identify commercial risks and opportunities on live projectsLiaising with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth communicationAssisting in the preparation of cost reports and documentation for senior managementSupporting tendering and pre-construction activities where requiredMaintaining accurate records of project costs and commercial dataWhat you will need to succeed:Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role or a relevant placement within groundworks or civil engineeringStrong interest in residential housing developments and infrastructure worksGood numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detailExcellent communication and organisational skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn new systemsAbility to work as part of a team and manage workload effectivelyFull UK driving licence (preferred)Studying towards or qualified with an HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying or similarWhat you get in return:Competitive salary of 35,000 - 40,000 depending on experienceFull package including car allowance, pension, and bonus schemeStructured training and development with clear progression to Quantity Surveyor levelOpportunity to work on large-scale residential projects with leading housebuildersSupportive team environment with mentorship from experienced commercial professionalsLong-term career stability within a growing and reputable contractorApply: If you're interested in this opportunity, then please get in touch today with our Commercial Specialist, Mark Harris.Building Careers UK specialises in Construction and Property recruitment and serves as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
