About the role We are looking for a reliable and caring Laundry Assistant to join our team at MHA. This is an important role, helping to ensure residents clothing, bedding and linen are cleaned to a high standard, while always respecting dignity, privacy and personal choice. As a Laundry Assistant, you will play a key part in maintaining a safe, hygienic and comfortable environment for residents, supporting their wellbeing and helping them feel at home. What you will do Operate laundry equipment safely and in line with training and manufacturer guidance. Sort, wash, dry and iron residents clothing, bedding and linen, following care labels and instructions. Safely manage infected laundry and prevent cross-contamination in line with infection control procedures. Distribute clean laundry to residents rooms and linen cupboards, reporting unidentified items as needed. Carry out basic mending and identify items requiring dry cleaning. Maintain cleanliness and tidiness within the laundry area and ensure equipment is clean and well maintained. Follow COSHH, manual handling, health & safety and infection prevention requirements at all times. Respect residents privacy, dignity and choice. Attend training, supervision, appraisals and staff meetings as required. About you We are looking for someone who is dependable, organised and takes pride in their work. You will bring: Previous experience of laundry work (desirable). Good communication and listening skills. The ability to follow instructions and prioritise tasks effectively. A positive, flexible approach to work. Sensitivity to the needs of older people and a commitment to quality service. Willingness to undertake training and development. A QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. Why join MHA?
