Job Title: Senior EC&I Design EngineerLocation: Sellafield, Cumbria, UKJob Type: PermanentOverviewI am currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Design Engineer to join a leading engineering team supporting critical projects at Sellafield. This role offers the opportunity to work on highly regulated, safety-critical systems within one of the UK's most complex and secure environments.You will play a key role in the design and delivery of EC&I systems across a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with stringent industry and regulatory standards. The position involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including regular interfacing with commissioning teams to ensure seamless transition from design through to implementation and operation.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and deliver EC&I design activities for complex, high-integrity systemsProduce and review technical documentation including:Control system architectureWiring diagrams and loop drawingsInstrument specifications and data sheetsFunctional design specifications (FDS)Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety cases, and regulatory requirementsInterface closely with commissioning teams to support testing, validation, and system handoverParticipate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and safety assessmentsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers where requiredLiaise with stakeholders, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project alignmentKey Requirements5+ years' experience as an EC&I Design EngineerBackground in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, oil & gas, chemical, or similarExperience working within strict regulatory and safety frameworksProven ability to produce high-quality design documentationStrong communication skills and experience working with commissioning teamsDesirable Skills & ExperiencePrevious experience working on nuclear sites or Sellafield projectsFamiliarity with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, BS, safety integrity levels - SIL)Experience with functional safety and safety lifecycle processesChartered Engineer status or working towards accreditationWhat's on offerOpportunity to work on nationally significant projectsCollaborative and safety-focused working environmentCareer progression and professional development opportunitiesApply NowTPBN1_UKTJ
