Goodman Masson are currently working with a social housing organisation in Sussex to recruit for an interim M&E Surveyor.The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below.Rate - 250 - 300 a day INSIDE IR35 umbrellaAbout the RoleReporting to the Compliance Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering mechanical, electrical, and energy-related services across residential and non-residential buildings.You'll be responsible for managing contractors, overseeing works on-site, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives. Key Responsibilities Oversee and supervise planned maintenance and responsive repairs, including: Electrical systems and testingFire alarms and emergency lightingLifts, door entry systems, and rewiringMechanical plant and equipment Manage contractors and consultants, ensuring works are delivered: SafelyOn timeWithin budgetTo high quality standards Design, specify, and supervise M&E works in line with: Current legislationBritish StandardsIndustry best practice (e.g. CIBSE guidance) Lead on energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives, including: Carbon reduction projectsRenewable technologies (e.g. solar PV)Energy performance assessments (EPCs, SAP calculations) Monitor energy usage and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce fuel poverty.Support compliance activities, including: Legionella risk managementHealth & Safety inspections and reporting (including RIDDOR where required)Liaison with asbestos specialists Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and contract documentation.Monitor project budgets, valuations, and contractor payments.Carry out site inspections and ensure works meet required standards.Maintain accurate asset data and contribute to statutory reporting.Provide technical advice to internal teams, residents, and stakeholders. xjdpvnf About YouYou'll be a technically strong, proactive professional with a passion for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality building services.Essential Skills & Experience Strong experience in M&E maintenance and repair within housing or propertyAbility to diagnose faults across electrical and mechanical systemsExperience managing contractors and supervising works on-siteKnowledge of relevant legislation and regulations (including electrical standards)Experience preparing specifications, reports, and technical documentationBudget monitoring and contract administration experienceStrong communication and stakeholder management skills Qualifications HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or related fieldRelevant professional qualification or working towards (e.g. MIET or similar) Desirable Experience in social housing or public sector environmentKnowledge of energy efficiency standards and PAS 2035Experience with asset management systems and stock condition surveys Additional Requirements Full UK driving licenceWillingness to travel and work across multiple sitesOccasional out-of-hours working may be required If this role is of interest, please email over your CV to
