Be a part of it.Job Title:Consultant Forensic PsychiatristService Line:Male Low SecureProfessionally Accountable to:Medical DirectorManagerially Responsible to:Hospital ManagerWe are seeking an experiencedpart‑time / any 3 days per week Consultant Psychiatristwho will work atCygnet Hospital Maidstoneand provide senior medical cover onSaltwood Ward , our 17 bed low secure service for men with enduring mental illness, including those with a personality disorder.The multidisciplinary team is integrated and work as one, sharing expertise. The Trust also has extensive community links which can be particularly helpful for service users moving towards discharge, thus helping to keep lengths of stay to a minimum.The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life‑changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first‑class multidisciplinary team.And you'll have the opportunity to progress to Medical Director Level through our management schemes.At Cygnet, you'll enjoy excellent professional development, shopping, travel and leisure discounts – as well as a range of healthcare and financial benefits – to support you to be happy both in and out of work.Main duties and ResponsibilitiesLead on the provision of high quality care to the service users admitted to Saltwood WardAct as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staff.Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the multi‑disciplinary teamAssess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service usersUndertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatmentConduct ward rounds, patient reviews & clinical auditsLead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governance within the serviceSupervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers' hearings & attend hearingsLiaise with the Ministry of Justice for transfer of patients and approval of leave as requiredGood maintenance of patient recordsEnsure and maintain regular communications with the Site Medical Director and Hospital ManagerCommunicate effectively through regular contact with patients, relatives, staff, directors, and any other concerned bodies; maintaining appropriate reports.Attend and contribute to academic meetings and adhere to the professional standards for CPD as set out by the GMC, the Department of Health and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.Contribute to the Telephone On Call rotaWhy Cygnet?
