Role Overview The Clinical Director for Urgent Care is an exciting opportunity to deliver transformative change to the newlyestablished "front door" and existing urgent treatment centres at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NuTH). We are seeking an experienced GP with a comprehensive understanding of urgent care priorities and strategy, and appetite to develop services to deliver outstanding patient care.Main duties of the job In line with the Urgent and Emergency Care Plan, and NHS 10-year plan, the Clinical Director for Urgent Care role aims to:Maximise efficiency across urgent care, and reduce waiting timesSeek opportunities to effectively manage patient flow, including redirection of patients to the most appropriate serviceIntegrate urgent care and access with neighbourhood working, in line with the NHS 10-year planEnhance GP links with Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)Support winter preparednessJob responsibilitiesStrategic development of urgent care services in line with national strategy and local prioritiesReview and develop internal and external pathwaysOversight and delivery of effective access and streaming to appropriate services, ensuring patients are seen by the right service and the right clinicianMaximise the efficiency of urgent care, and support achievement of performance targets and KPIsWork as part of the wider system to develop the urgent care service, including General Practice, Community Services and Integrated Neighbourhood TeamsProvide medical leadership in the planning, implementation and monitoring of service deliveryEffectively network and work collaboratively with internal and external partners to effect change and develop servicesWork closely with the GP Governance Lead to deliver effective and high-quality GP input across urgent careSupport workforce development and trainingDevelop relationships and work effectively across departments, including with the Clinical Director for Urgent and Emergency Care within the Clinical Board, Clinical Board Chair for Medicine, Emergency Care and Community, Board Director of Operations, Matrons, Head of Nursing, General Manager and service leadsComplete clinical sessions across the UTC sitesComply with all Trust policies and proceduresEnsure the handling of highly sensitive and confidential information is managed correctly and securely in line with both statutory and Trust policyPromote and maintain a positive culture which supports the Trust's values and prioritises the well‑being of staffWork within applicable regulations, governance arrangements, and ethical frameworksPerson Specification ExperienceExperience of transformative clinical leadershipExperience in leading complex change managementDemonstrates a high level of professional practice and experience in disease managementExperience of collaborative and multidisciplinary team workingPrevious and current experience of working in primary care and an urgent care setting, including management of acute illness/injury in the UKOtherThe ability & willingness to travel to sitesMember of defence union (MPS/MDU)Evidence of an annual NHS appraisalFull driving licenceSkillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSkilled in service development and managementAbility to network and build collaborative relationshipsExcellent organisation and time management skillsAbility to use initiative and judgementStrong leadership skillsQualitiesForward thinking and strategic perspective to the delivery of urgent careProactive, flexible and positive attitudeDemonstrates personal and professional integrityPersonable and approachableCommitment to the delivery of high‑quality care and continuous service improvementQualificationsFully Qualified GP MRCGP for at least 3 yearsGMC full registration and currently on a performers listCertificate of Completion of Training (CCT)Evidence of a commitment to continuing professional developmentPossess a valid UK work permit (if appropriate)Higher postgraduate educational activities in relevant fieldsDisclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.#J-18808-Ljbffr
