Field Service Engineer (CHP &Biogas Engines)Location: Southwest England (Field Based)Ideal Base: Yeovil or surrounding areasSalary: Up to £44,000 basic salary + Overtime + Excellent BenefitsOTE: £49,000 £54,000+ (depending on overtime/callouts)Job Type: PermanentThe CompanyOur client is a leading provider of installation, servicing and maintenance solutions for gas engine power generation systems and CHP equipment within the renewable energy sector.They have built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality engineering support across the UK and continue to grow through strong customer relationships and first-class field service delivery.The RoleAn excellent opportunity has arisen for a mechanically biased Field Service Engineer to join the Southwest team, supporting a portfolio of CHP and Biogas engine sites.Reporting to the UK Operations Manager / Operations Director, you will be responsible for servicing, maintenance, fault finding and repairs on a range of gas engines from 120kW to 3MW, working predominantly on:JenbacherMWMMANYou will attend customer sites carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), breakdown response, diagnostics, repairs and performance checks, helping to minimise downtime and maintain engine efficiency.This is a field-based role with travel across the Southwest patch. Engineers are paid door-to-door.Key ResponsibilitiesService, maintain and repair CHP / Biogas gas enginesCarry out PPM and scheduled maintenance worksAttend breakdowns and diagnose mechanical and basic electrical faultsReplace components and carry out engine repairsComplete engine inspections and performance checksFault find on associated plant and auxiliary equipmentWork on engine control systems (DIANE / COMAP / DEIF / TEM preferred)Complete detailed service reports and paperwork accuratelyParticipate in the on-call rotaCandidate RequirementsEssential:Time served as a Mechanical EngineerNVQ Level 2 / Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or similarStrong mechanical fault-finding and repair skillsExperience working on engines, generators, power generation plants, or rotating equipmentFull UK driving licenceGood communication and customer-facing skillsStrong organisation and ability to work independentlyDesirable:CHP / Biogas engine experienceJenbacher / MWM / MAN engine knowledgeGenerator, marine diesel, heavy plant or wider power generation backgroundBasic electrical fault-finding skills (24v DC controls / 415v systems)Gas Safe qualificationAlternator/commissioning experienceWorking Pattern / TravelField-based across the Southwest regionDoor-to-door paid travelOccasional overnight stays requiredHotel paid by the company£35 evening meal allowance£10 lunch allowance next day(Exact customer site locations will be discussed during the interview stage.)On Call1 in 3 rota (Monday to Monday)Callout hours: 07:00 22:00No standby payment (included within salary)Overtime paid when called outSalary & BenefitsUp to £44,000 basicOvertimeDouble time on Bank HolidaysTypical OTE £5k£10k extraDoor-to-door payCompany vehicle + fuel card (optional private use)24 days holiday + bank holidaysContributory pensionPrivate healthcare (non-contributory)Laptop, phone, PPE and specialist tooling providedOngoing manufacturer and technical trainingWhats next?
