Assistant Director of Community Services - Charitable ProviderLocation: Hybrid (UK) – with regular national travel to all locationsSalary: Up to £75,000 per annum plus benefits packageAbout the OpportunityCompass Associates are proud to be partnering with Royal Star & Garter to recruit an Assistant Director of Community Services at a pivotal time in the charity’s development.This role sits at the heart of the organisation’s five-year strategy, supporting the transformation of community-based services into a scalable, evidence-led, national model of support for the UK’s Armed Forces community.The postholder will lead the design, development and delivery of innovative community programmes that expand reach, improve outcomes, and ensure services remain responsive, impactful and sustainable.The RoleThe Assistant Director of Community Services will lead the national Community Services programme, ensuring the development and delivery of innovative, high-quality and scalable services for veterans and their partners across the UK.Working closely with the Director of Care & Wellbeing, the postholder will shape and implement community-based models of care and support, driving both expansion and continuous improvement across a diverse portfolio of services.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development and delivery of the community services strategyDesign and implement multi-option service models, enabling scalable, evidence-led provisionDevelop innovation pathways from design through to pilot, evaluation and scaleBenchmark services and ensure continuous improvement aligned with veteran needsProvide visible, values-based leadership across all community servicesLead and develop multidisciplinary teams including innovation, clinical leadership and data functionsFoster a culture of collaboration, learning and continuous improvementOversee therapy access, wellbeing outreach, community hubs and end-of-life pathwaysBuild strong partnerships with NHS organisations, hospices, commissioners and veterans’ groupsRepresent Royal Star & Garter nationally across sector networks and eventsSupport funding applications and service development bids through evidence and evaluationAbout YouSenior leadership experience in health, social care or community servicesProven experience in service development, transformation or innovationStrong understanding of governance, safeguarding and multi-agency workingExperience working within or alongside regulated servicesExperience leading multidisciplinary or cross-functional teamsStrong analytical mindset with experience using data and evaluation to shape servicesDesirable ExperienceExperience in veteran-focused, charitable or community health settingsTrack record of leading pilots, transformation or service redesignMaster’s level qualification or equivalent professional expertiseWhy apply?This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of community-based care and support for the UK’s Armed Forces community.
