This is a brand-new opportunity for a consultant Psychiatrist based in Roseanne House, Welwyn Garden City. The post involves working as a Consultant Psychiatrist and providing diagnostic assessments and treatment to patients with severe, complex, and high‑risk psychiatric conditions. The Adult Community Mental Health Service (ACMHS) team delivers care to residents of Welwyn Garden City and surrounding areas, and works closely with GPs through a GP plus Enhanced Primary Care Mental Health Service, meeting weekly to triage referrals and give specialist psychiatric input.ResponsibilitiesManage, appraise and provide professional supervision to specialty doctors and junior medical staff in line with the UK Modernising Medical Careers framework.Ensure junior medical staff work within the New Deal and Working Time Directive‑compliant parameters.Undertake all administrative duties related to patient care, including accurate clinical record keeping and timely submission to the Information Department.Participate in service and business‑planning activities for the locality and broader mental health service.Engage in annual consultant appraisal and the Trust’s internal CPD programme, including lectures and seminars.Review job plans annually with the line manager and relevant senior managers to adapt the role to service changes.Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, secure Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval, and comply with professional codes of conduct.Co‑operate with local managers and professional colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery, including financial management support.Provide psychiatric expertise to the multidisciplinary team and conduct outpatient clinics, home visits, and multidisciplinary case discussions.Liaise effectively with primary care and mainstream mental health services, offering advice to Primary Care Nurses and ARRS workers.QualificationsMBBS or equivalent medical qualification.MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.Section 12 approved.CCT in Psychiatry, or inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in psychiatry, or within six months of achieving CCT/CESR at the time of interview.In good standing with the GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice.Desirable CriteriaQualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.Higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD, MSc) or other additional clinical qualifications.Experience of the full range of clinical responsibilities expected of a consultant in General Adult psychiatry.Experience of close collaborative working with social care and other agencies.Experience of working with service users who have complex needs within General Adult psychiatry.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Excellent clinical skills using a bio‑psychosocial perspective and wide medical knowledge.Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty, making decisions based on evidence and collaborative input.Wide range of specialist and subspecialist experience relevant to the post within the NHS or a comparable service.Ability to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.Engagement in continuous professional development, research or service evaluation, and clinical audit.Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit, and service improvement (awards, presentations, publications).Full valid driving licence and access to a car (unless a disability precludes the need for a vehicle).Appropriate UK professional registration.#J-18808-Ljbffr
