Consultant Psychiatrist – Older Adult Psychiatry Closing date: 17 May 2026.Location: Weymouth, Dorset.We offer up to £20,000 in recruitment payment (£10,000 on appointment, £10,000 on anniversary) and a relocation package of up to £10,000 for those moving to Dorset. Flexible working, career development and NHS benefits are available.ResponsibilitiesProvide secondary psychiatric care for older adults.Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and management of community referrals.Contribute to the Older People Psychiatry multidisciplinary team in Weymouth and Portland.Lead and influence strategic development within the Dorset care group.Provide clinical governance, audit and supervision of junior staff.Attend the County‑wide consultant on‑call rota and other agreed service commitments.Qualifications and TrainingGeneral medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) and Licence to Practice.MRCPsych or recognised equivalent; membership of a psychiatry college.Possession or impending possession of a CCT in Older Adult Psychiatry or other specialist register.Eligibility for Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval.Experience in medicine outside psychiatry (e.g. general practice, medical).Clinical Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceExcellent knowledge of old age psychiatry and a bio‑psycho‑social approach.Effective multidisciplinary teamwork involvement.Clinical decision making under MHA and MCA.Strong written and oral communication and teaching experience.Evidence of research, audit and publication.Experience with supervision of junior staff.Management and Leadership SkillsDemonstrated leadership in clinical practice.Ability to manage priorities and lead multidisciplinary teams.Management or leadership training and previous managerial experience.Clinical GovernanceUnderstanding of Clinical Governance and NHS policy.Awareness of mental health service provision, policy and legislation.Self‑reflection on strengths, weaknesses and managing stress.Research & AuditConducting and publishing audit projects.Involvement in research projects and publications.Supervision of junior staff in research.Disclosure and Barring Service Check Application subject to Disclosure and Barring Service check (Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, Exceptions Order 1975).#J-18808-Ljbffr
