OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and compassionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Adult ADHD service. The postholder will provide expert clinical care to adults presenting with ADHD, including assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing treatment, while also considering associated mental health needs. You will work closely with patients to develop personalised care plans that support their wellbeing, independence, and long‐term outcomes. The role involves close collaboration with a multi‐disciplinary team to deliver a high‐quality, patient‐centred service. In addition to core clinical responsibilities, you will contribute to clinical leadership, service development, teaching, supervision, and quality improvement activity.ResponsibilitiesProvide specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management of adults with ADHD and co‐existing mental health conditions.Develop and deliver personalised treatment plans, including medication and psychosocial interventions, in collaboration with patients and the multidisciplinary team (MDT).Prescribe, titrate, and monitor ADHD medication in line with NICE guidance, ensuring safe and effective treatment.Offer timely clinical advice and support to GPs, community teams, and other professionals regarding diagnosis and treatment planning.Support safe discharge planning and effective transitions of care between services.Leadership and SupervisionAct as clinical lead for the Adult ADHD service, contributing to strategic direction and service development.Provide supervision and support to junior medical staff, including GPwERs and pharmacists.Offer clinical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to nursing and allied health professionals.Teaching, Training and DevelopmentDeliver teaching and training to junior doctors, trainees, students, and MDT colleagues.Support postgraduate education, supervision, and continuing professional development (CPD).Participate in research and service development initiatives related to ADHD and neurodevelopmental disorders.Governance, Quality and AdministrationContribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement (QI), and service evaluation activities.Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation, reports and correspondence.Participate in job planning, appraisal, revalidation and clinical management meetings in line with Trust and GMC requirements.QualificationsFull GMC registration and eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry.CCT in General Adult Psychiatry (or within six months of completion).Experience in the assessment and management of adult ADHD and other neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions.Ability to work effectively within a multi‐disciplinary team and provide clinical leadership.Excellent communication skills and commitment to patient‐centred care.Evidence of ongoing CPD and reflective practice.DesirableExperience in supervision, teaching or volvement in audit, research or service development.Additional training or qualifications in education, leadership or service improvement.BenefitsSalary in line with NHS Consultant pay framework, ranging from £109,725 to £145,478 per annum, reflective of experience and length of service.NHS Pension.Membership of My Reward Hub, giving you access to discounts on everyday purchases and cashback and voucher offers.Access to wages as you earn them to help cover emergency expenses and avoid overdraft fees.Online and face‐to‐face help with mental and physical wellbeing, including healthy recipes, activity challenges, post‐trauma support, legal, debt and life management help, career coaching and counselling.Access to eLearning, bespoke career pathways and opportunities for continuing professional development through our Learning Enterprise.An open, just culture where you are encouraged to have and implement ideas that help deliver our purpose: changing lives through transforming health and care, backed up by at least £100,000 of ringfenced innovation funding each year.Pride in working for an organisation committed to the highest clinical and quality standards, with the majority of rated services holding "good" or "outstanding" CQC ratings.Free tea, coffee and milk at your base location.Location & ContractThe post will be based at Amesbury Health Centre in Salisbury, Wiltshire and is offered on a 40‐hour per week contract.Equal OpportunityWe are committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from a broad, diverse range of people.
