Expleo is currently recruiting an experienced CAD Author to support one of our major automotive customers based in Gaydon. This is a contract opportunity suited to a senior CAD professional with strong technical capability and the confidence to work independently on complex engineering projects.The RoleAs a CAD Author, you will play a key role in the creation, modification, and validation of engineering designs using CAD/CAM/CAE tools. You will collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality digital models, drawings, and simulations that support product development and optimisation.Key ResponsibilitiesTranslate engineering requirements into accurate technical drawings, layouts, and digital models using CAD/CAM/CAE softwareCreate, edit, and manage complex CAD models for components, parts, and assembliesCustomise CAD/CAM/CAE tools to support complex or non-standard design requirementsDevelop digital prototypes and conduct design simulations to verify reliability, safety, and performanceRecommend design improvements based on simulation and digital prototyping outcomesCollaborate with product and manufacturing engineers throughout the design lifecycleProduce materials lists and contribute to cost estimates where requiredManage assigned workstreams independently with limited supervisionCoach, review, and support the work of junior or lower-level CAD professionalsAbout YouExtensive experience in CAD/CAM/CAE drafting and design within an engineering environment (automotive experience highly desirable)Strong understanding of engineering drawings, standards, and best practicesProven ability to work on complex engineering designs and processesConfident working autonomously and managing multiple tasks or prioritiesExperience supporting or reviewing the work of junior designers/draftersExcellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionallyTPBN1_UKTJ
