Who we are looking for State Street Markets is a globally recognized and systemically important capital markets business spanning multi-asset-class (i.e., FX, FICC, Equities) agency, principle trading and outsourced trading services, coupled with a world leading physical 'synthetic securities financing program, and suite of market infrastructure products, including our FCA regulated Multilateral Trading Facility for FX markets. We are seeking a highly experienced and tenured compliance professional to lead the compliance oversight program for a strategically important business line within State Street Markets UK. This role requires deep subject matter expertise in multi-asset-class Capital Markets & Financial Instrument Trading (i.e., FX, FICC, Equities), Algorithmic Trading and Swap-Dealer Financial Markets Trading, combined with a strong understanding of UK and pan-European regulatory frameworks (e.g., MiFID II, MAR, MiFIR), industry best practice and market conventions (e.g., Global FX Code). Expertise in Foreign Exchange (FX), Derivatives, and Swap-Dealer financial markets trading is considered a plus. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across trading, operations, risk management, and second and third-line risk and control functions (e.g. surveillance, legal and audit), ensuring robust compliance governance, oversight and proactive risk management. This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements. Typically 4 days in the office per week in our London office. What you will be responsible for As a State Street Markets Compliance Vice President, key responsibilities include:- Compliance Oversight: Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the compliance oversight program for FX, derivatives, and swap-dealer activities and support to any other business line within Markets. Monitor adherence to applicable UK and EU regulations, including FCA rules, MiFID II, Market Abuse Regulation (MAR), and the Global FX Code. Regulatory Engagement: Serve as the primary compliance point of contact for regulatory inquiries and examinations related to the business line. Interpret regulatory developments and assess their impact on trading and operational practices. Stakeholder Management: Engage with senior leaders across trading desks, operations, risk management, surveillance, legal, and audit functions to ensure alignment on compliance objectives. Provide strategic compliance advice to business leadership on new products, market initiatives, and regulatory change. Risk Assessment & Controls: Oversee compliance risk assessments and ensure effective controls are in place to mitigate regulatory and conduct risks. Partner with surveillance and monitoring teams to identify and address potential market abuse or misconduct. Training & Culture: Promote a strong compliance culture through targeted training and awareness programs for front-office and support staff. Design, implement and administer policies, procedures and controls design to ensure regulatory compliance consistent with industry best practice. What we value These skills will help you succeed in this role: Extensive experience in compliance within global markets, with a focus on FX, derivatives, and swap-dealer financial instrument trading . Strong knowledge of UK FCA regulations and pan-European frameworks (MiFID II, MAR) and familiarity with global standards such as the Global FX Code. Proven ability to lead compliance programs and influence senior stakeholders in a complex, matrixed environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate regulatory requirements in a commercial context. Prior experience engaging with regulators and managing regulatory examinations is highly desirable. Education & Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree, Masters or other advanced degree preferred. Industry recognised compliance, legal and/or audit qualification would be considered a plus. 10+ years of experience working in compliance risk management, legal and/or internal audit, preferably at an international financial institution.
