About the Role Do you have at least 4 years experience working in mental health and have great interpersonal skills that you want to develop while becoming a therapist? In partnership with the University of Southampton, we are looking to recruit up to 7 Trainee High Intensity CBT Therapists on a fixed term basis to join WithYou's Surrey NHS Talking Therapies. WithYou is a leading national charity providing evidence based support for mental health, substance use, and family services across the UK. The role is based at our Surrey NHS Talking Therapies service and we will train practitioners to deliver evidence based psychological therapy on a one year full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Intervention (CBT) at the University of Southampton starting in September 2026. In addition, this exciting opportunity includes an NHS funded Postgraduate Diploma course which will give you the skills to assess and deliver NICE recommended CBT interventions in community settings, for people suffering with symptoms of anxiety and depression. Interviews will be held virtually in mid June 2026 (dates will be confirmed with candidates as soon as possible). Successful candidates will need to start employment by 06th September 2026 subject to satisfactory checks. You will receive a 942 per annum Surrey Fringe Allowance in addition to the advertised salary. Should you be successful in your application, you will be required to provide 3 years' worth of references and will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check. These posts are fixed-term for 12 months however there may be opportunities for continued employment at the end of the contract, subject to service need and qualification status. The position will be home based, but you must be able to physically attend University of Southampton in person throughout the course; this will usually be a Thursday and online on a Friday, and there may be additional days that you will need to attend in person. There will be an additional expectation that you will deliver treatment in person in Surrey at least one day a week and work at least one evening shift until 8pm once a week. Essential Skills BABCP Recognised Core Profession: Candidates will need to have a 2:1 degree in one of the following subjects: psychology, medicine, social work, occupational therapy, nursing, or an equivalent professional qualification. Candidates must also provide evidence of at least 4 years' full time experience, and prior training, experience or knowledge in: CBT, interpersonal skills, mental health problems, general assessment, understanding of ethical and professional issues. Submitting a KSA Portfolio: If you do not have a BABCP recognised core profession, you must provide evidence of prior training and experience which meets the requirements for PG training. KSA submissions will need to be completed by our proposed interview dates in mid June 2026 and any offer of employment will be dependent on successful completion of this application. Visa requirements As these roles are funded by Health Education England for home fees and not for international fees. The University requires you either need to have a UK passport, or have settled status in the UK.
