Job Title: Practice Accountant Location: Wallasey Salary: 30,000 - 35,000 per annum Working Hours: Monday Friday, 9:00am 5:00pm (30-minute lunch) The Role: We are recruiting for an experienced Accountant to join a small, established practice team of four. This is a hands-on role requiring someone confident in preparing year-end accounts and managing VAT returns for a portfolio of sole traders and limited companies. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing their own workload, and liaising directly with clients. Key Responsibilities Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders and limited companies Preparation and submission of VAT returns Managing a portfolio of clients Liaising with clients to obtain financial information and resolve queries Ensuring compliance with current accounting and tax regulations Supporting the wider team where required Essential Requirements Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role (practice experience preferred) AAT Level 4 or higher qualification essential. Strong experience preparing year-end accounts for sole traders and limited companies Confident preparing and submitting VAT returns Working knowledge of Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and TaxCalc Strong attention to detail and organisational skills Ability to work independently within a small team environment The Candidate Professional and client-focused Able to manage deadlines effectively Strong communication skills Reliable and proactive This is a great opportunity to join a supportive, close-knit team offering stability and a clear, structured working week.
