Job Description

CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator (VMC / HMC) Salary: 17.26 18.45 per hour (Approx. 35,000 37,500) Overtime potential: Up to 45,000 50,000 Working hours: 39 hours/week + overtime at 1.5x rate Shift Pattern: MonThurs: 07:30 16:30 Fri: 07:30 12:30 The Role: We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator to join our VMC & HMC Milling Cell . Working in a subcontract environment, you will be involved in one-off and small batch production, giving you the opportunity to fully utilise your technical expertise. Key responsibilities include: Programming, setting, and operating CNC machining centres Working from detailed engineering drawings Selecting tooling and proving out programs Machining a wide range of materials including steels, stainless steels, alloys, and non-ferrous metals Producing components from raw materials such as bar stock, fabrications, castings, and forgings Using CNC equipment with 4th axis capability and probing systems Programming via offline software or directly at the machine About the Company: We are a well-established, ISO 9001:2015 certified subcontract engineering company based in Merseyside. With a long history supporting industries such as automotive, marine, and heavy engineering, we now supply precision components to sectors including nuclear, defence, oil & gas, fluid handling, and power generation. The business specialises in the manufacture of high-precision components such as drive train parts, valve and pump internals, and long-length precision shafts. Essential Requirements: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) Strong experience programming, setting, and operating CNC machines (Fanuc controls preferred) Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality systems Experience machining exotic materials (e.g. duplex, Inconel, Hastelloy, Monel) Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role Strong organisational and communication skills High attention to detail Desirable: Experience with Doosan VMCs or horizontal machining centres Familiarity with twin pallet HMC systems Manual Guide programming Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g. OneCNC) 4th axis machining Background in valve and pump component manufacture Experience in regulated industries (nuclear, defence, oil & gas, etc.) Proficiency with Office 365 and ERP systems Benefits: Competitive salary and overtime rates Company bonus scheme 25 days holiday + bank holidays Contributory pension scheme Ongoing training and development Corporate workwear provided Flexible working options Subject to company performance and criteria Based on business needs TPBN1_UKTJ
