Morson are exclusively recruiting for CNC Machinists on behalf of our client GKN Aerospace (https:///). There are night shift roles available at GKN Filton and day shift roles at GKN Western Approach (near Severn Beach). All roles are 6 months initially, but highly likely to be long-term rolling contract/temporary to permanent. Candidates MUST have LEVEL 3 qualifications - (include NVQ or City & Guilds) or apprenticeship - proof of certs will be required. If you do not have Level 3 qualifications or apprenticeship and no prior CNC experience, the client will not be able to consider you Rate(s): NIGHT SHIFT - FILTON 26.77 PAYE per hour standard Nights, any overtime paid at the following: Sunday to Friday overtime paid at 30.65 per hour Saturday overtime paid at 34.14 per hour When Stamp Obtained (usually after 12 weeks) standard rate increases to 27.86 per hour, any overtime paid at the following: Overtime Sunday to Friday 31.90 per hour Saturday Overtime 35.53 per hour Hours: The role involves working Nightshift which would involve working on the following shift pattern: First 17 weeks - Sunday, Monday & Tuesday (7pm-7am each day) Second 17 Weeks - Wednesday, Thursday Friday (7pm-7am each day) Rotated every 17 weeks Candidates will be working Core Days for the first few weeks before going onto night shift DAY SHIFT WESTERN APPROACH 7 day fortnight pattern (see info below) - 23.59 PAYE per hour standard rising to 24.64 PAYE per hour when training stamp approved (approx 12 weeks) Overtime during the week paid at 27.65 PAYE rising to 28.88 PAYE when training stamp approved Overtime during the weekend paid at 36.86 PAYE rising to 38.50 when training stamp approved Shift Pattern 7 day fortnight shift pattern -40.25 hours per week (average over 2 weeks) Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 06:0018:00 Week 2: Wednesday and Thursday 06:0018:00 (occasionally 07:0019:00) Core Days Training Period (12 weeks): Monday to Friday, 07:0015:00 Purpose: To manufacture aircraft components from composite materials, using the latest technology CNC machinery which meets aircraft design drawing requirements. Duties: Manufacture, machine, measure, test and assemble aircraft components from composite and metallic materials, up to 15m in length, which are fully traceable, using automated machinery. Use of CNC rout machines, 5 Axis Zimmerman drilling and fettling gantry machines and jigged vacuum fixtures Machining of parts aircraft parts to drawing specification Checking of parts using conventional equipment including height gauges Micrometers, vernier, calipers to meet required specification Working to engineering drawings Manufacturing to defined high tolerances Manually or mechanically move components to ensure the effective flow of production within the cell Use of Renishaw probing equipment. Use of cutter tool setting equipment. Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Apprenticeship or equivalent (Modern Apprenticeship will have NVQ 3) or 4 Year Apprenticeship City and Guilds Level 3 or higher If EU Country Certs tend to be 3 Year or longer in a Technical College with the third Year completed on a shop floor (Certs must have an English Translation prior to submission to the Client) Experience of loading and setting fixtures and tooling in CNC machines. Ideally with Siemens 840D control system experience. Ideally have 3 5 years' experience on either CNC Machines. Understanding of aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems Self-motivated and with good communication skills. Able to work in small teams led by Process Team Leaders. Served a recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in composite or aircraft environment. Undertake training in advanced composite manufacturing techniques & processes.
