We are thriving business based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire who is keen to secure a 3 month temporary (with strong possibility of transitioning into a permanent role) to join our Mechanical Engineering Team. Job Specification Mechanical Engineer (Documentation & Quality) 1. Role Overview Part-time Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in mechanical design, assembly documentation, technical illustration, and quality assurance, supporting production and engineering activities. 2. Employment Basis Initial contract appointment, reviewed after 6 months, with the potential to transition to a permanent role subject to business need and performance. 3. Working Pattern & Location o 1624 hours per week (typically 23 days) o Approximately 75% onsite at Stevenage, 25% home working will be considered o Role suited to individuals seeking reduced hours, including retirees or those balancing other commitments. Reporting & Interfaces o Reports to the Production Manager o Receives functional guidance from Engineering, Quality, and Master Data teams o Regular liaison with colleagues in the UK, EU, and US (English language). Technical Competence o Strong general mechanical engineering skills are essential o Electro mechanical experience is advantageous o Practical, hands on understanding of mechanical assemblies and components. Documentation & Illustration Responsibilities o Update and maintain existing assembly documentation o Author new assembly documentation, including illustrated work instructions o Ensure documentation is clear, accurate, and suitable for production use. Quality Responsibilities o Update and maintain existing quality control documents o Author new quality and inspection documentation o Perform inspection of mechanical components in support of quality and production. Engineering Support o Identify issues and opportunities for improvement o Make recommendations for engineering changes based on inspection, documentation review, and production feedback. Systems & Software o Must be computer literate and comfortable using the Microsoft Office suite o Working knowledge of SAP is advantageous; training will be required if not already familiar o Experience with SolidWorks is advantageous. Communication & Teamworking o Good verbal and written communication skills are essential o Ability to work effectively with production staff and cross functional teams o Clear, professional communication when dealing with international stakeholders.
