Compliance & Building Safety OfficerTake the next step in your career now, scroll down to read the full role description and make your application.Location: Somerset Hourly rate: Up to 18.85 PAYE Contract Type: 3 monthsOverviewOur client is looking for a Compliance & Building Safety Officer to help ensure residential properties meet all required safety and compliance standards. The role combines technical knowledge with strong communication skills, requiring effective engagement with residents and close coordination with contractors.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the delivery of compliance and building safety services within your assigned areaEnsure statutory and regulatory requirements are met across:Gas, electrical, fire, water, asbestos, and lift safetyOther systems such as heating, door entry, lightning protection, and digital/satellite systemsCarry out inspections, testing, and surveys (including fire doors and communal areas)Ensure all compliance documentation is accurate and up to dateWork closely with contractors to achieve full complianceInstruct and manage remedial works, from raising jobs through to completion and invoicingMonitor contractor and consultant performance against agreed standards and legislationChallenge performance where required and escalate issues appropriatelyConduct block inspections and identify safety or compliance issuesReview risk assessments, service reports, and inspection outcomesBuild positive relationships with residents, including those reluctant to engageTake a customer-first approach to resolving access issuesSupport procurement activities, including specifications and tender documentationStay up to date with evolving legislation and best practice (e.g. building safety regulations)Respond to emergencies or urgent situations requiring xjdpvnf on-site presenceSkills & Experience RequiredPrevious experience in a similar role (desirable experience in social housing)Strong organisational and time management skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal), including technical reportingAbility to engage with residents empathetically and professionallyExperience managing and challenging contractorsProficient in using IT systemsPractical, solution-focused approach to problem-solvingFor more information about the role, please contact Branwen Johns on and email a copy of your CV.
