Job Description

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the companys accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls and supporting strategic financial decision-making. This role is a key link between day-to-day finance operations and senior leadership within a busy, fast-moving construction environment.A variety of soft skills and experience may be required for the following role Please ensure you check the overview below carefully.This is a hands-on role in a small, close-knit team where no two days are the same. The successful candidate will need a practical mindset and a good sense of humouralongside strong technical ability. Construction isnt always polished and neither is the environment, so the ability to stay calm, keep things moving, and not take yourself too seriously will go a long way.Key Responsibilities Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory regulations Manage month-end and year-end close processes Develop and maintain robust internal controls and financial policies Coordinate year-end preparation and act as the main point of contact for external accountants Monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance against targets Provide financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy Supervise and support accounting and finance team members Manage tax reporting and liaise with external tax advisors where required Oversee fleet managementRequired Skills & Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or AAT Level 3 Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior accounting role Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills High proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills Strong leadership and team management abilities Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlinesPreferred Experience 5+ years in accounting or finance roles, including supervisory experience Experience in financial reporting and internal controls Experience in a multi-entity or fast-paced environment (construction experience highly beneficial) CIS experience Experience xjdpvnf using SAGEKey Competencies- Financial accuracy and integrity- Strategic thinking and commercial awareness- Leadership and people development- Strong communication and stakeholder management- Process improvement mindset- Resilience, adaptability, and a good sense of humour in a busy environmentWorking HoursMonday to Thursday: 8:00am 4:30pmFriday: 8:00am 3:30pmFull-time, on-site roleIf you are interested or have the relevant experience and are currently looking for a new challenge then please submit an up to date CV by clicking the apply button.By applying for this position, you confirm that you consent to the processing of your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the purposes of recruitment, employment and working finding service
