Job DescriptionNot sure what skills you will need for this opportunity Simply read the full description below to get a complete picture of candidate requirements.Maintenance OperativeLocation: Elephant & Castle, LondonSector: Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA)Salary: 32,000 34,000 per annumAbout the Role We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Maintenance Operative to join a vibrant Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Elephant & Castle. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering an outstanding living experience for residents across a diverse, multi-tenure development.Working closely with the on-site management team, you will be responsible for carrying out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance, ensuring the building and its facilities are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.Key ResponsibilitiesRespond to and resolve day-to-day maintenance issues across apartments and communal areasCarry out basic plumbing, electrical, and general repair worksSupport end-of-tenancy turnaround processes, including redecorating and repairsConduct regular inspections, building patrols, and health 'safety checksComplete mid-term and post-checkout inspections, ensuring timely follow-up actionsMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities and compliance checksAssist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and statutory testing (e.g. fire alarms, water checks)Support contractor management, ensuring work is completed safely and to standardContribute to the overall upkeep of the estate, including external areasAbout YouAt least 2 years experience in general maintenance or domestic plumbingNVQ Level 2 in Plumbing (or equivalent experience) preferredGood working knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical systemsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work independentlyComfortable using systems and tools such as Microsoft OfficeExcellent communication skills and a customer-focused approachFlexible and willing to work weekends or public holidays when requiredDesirable17th/18th Edition Electrical qualificationExperience in residential, student accommodation, or build-to-rent environmentsIOSH or other Health & Safety qualificationsWhat Were Looking For Youll be someone who takes pride in your work, shows initiative, and thrives in a fast-paced residential environment.
