Pre-Construction Engineer OSM - Oakenshaw Permanent Role Summary: TheOffsite Pre-Construction Engineer is a mechanically biased technical lead within the pre-constructionorganisation, providing leadership on the development and integration of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and Offsite Manufacturing (OSM) solutions acrosspre-construction and engineeringactivities.The roleis responsible forleadingpre-constructionDFMA activities across a range of internal NG Bailey MEP Projects. The role focusing on developing and validating DFMA scope, price andprogramme, and providing authoritative technical MEPOffsiteinput to design and BIM teams to ensure robust,feasibleand manufacturable solutions are embedded within the overall project strategy.A key strategicobjectiveof the role is to support and drive the development,standardisationand deployment of Offsite Manufacturing (OSM) standard products, ensuring repeatability, buildability,programmecertaintyand improved commercial performance across the business. Some of the key deliverables for this role will include: Pre-Construction Technical Leadership & DFMA Strategy Act as the mechanically biased DFMA and OSM technical lead within the pre-construction team. Leadmanufacturer and specialist supply chain DFMA engagements to shape project solutions and strategy. Define and control DFMA and OSM scope, technical assumptions, pricing inputs andprogrammerequirements atpre-construction stageand planning stage. Providetechnicalchallengeandassuranceto ensure DFMA solutions areviable,coordinatedand aligned to projectobjectives. Engineering, Design & BIM Integration Provide authoritative mechanical MEP and DFMA input to design and BIM teams throughout pre-construction. Direct and review model, drawing and specification development to ensure manufacturability, access,tolerancesand installation sequencing are achieved. Ensure DFMA and OSM requirements are embedded within BIM execution plans and design deliverables. Procurement & Supply Chain Lead early engagement withmanufacturers, steelworkcontractorsand specialist MEP supply chain partners. Support procurement and commercial teams in developing DFMA-aligned procurement strategies, benchmarkratesand lead times. Maintain alignment between DFMA design intent, manufacturing capability,programmeand commercial position. Programme, Manufacturing & Commercial Assurance Develop,validateand challenge DFMA manufacturingprogrammes,logisticsstrategiesand installation sequences. Lead re-engineeringofmanufacturing and weldinglabourhour assessments. Identifyand manage technical, commercial andprogrammerisks, supporting CVR,ROPSandchangecontrol processes. OSM Standard Product Development & Continuous Improvement Support the development,refinementand technical validation of OSM standard products and assemblies. Drivestandardisationand repeatability of DFMA solutions to improve buildability,qualityandprogrammecertainty. What we are looking for: Strong mechanical engineering background with experience inpre-construction, buildingservicesor MEP engineering roles. Proven experienceleadingDFMA and Offsite Manufacturing solutions within complex construction or MEP projects. Demonstrable experience influencing design strategy, BIMdevelopmentand supply chain engagement at early project stages. Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering orMechanically biased site engineering background.
