We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Kenney House and provide senior medical cover on our 16 bed Acute service for women.Main duties of the job Cygnet Kenney House is our hospital for women, located in Oldham. It offers a safe and secure care pathway for women with mental health needs and has three wards: Billington Ward (12 bed specialist Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit), Baldock Ward (16 bed Acute service) and Harben Ward (16 bed mental health rehabilitation and recovery service). Be part of it.Service & location:Cygnet Kenney House, OldhamManagerially Responsible to:Hospital ManagerSalary:Up to £170,000 per year (depending on experience)The post holder is the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients, audit the medical services rendered at the ward and ensure quality in accordance with GMC standards and other relevant professional guidelines.The role is based on Baldock Ward, our 16 bed female emergency acute inpatient service, providing a safe and stabilising environment for women in acute episodes. There is potential for progression to a Medical Director position.In this role, your expertise will drive life‑changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and a first‑class multidisciplinary team, including qualified nurses, psychologists and occupational therapists.At Cygnet, you will enjoy excellent professional development, travel and leisure discounts, and a range of healthcare and financial benefits to support you both in and out of work.Apply now to enjoy excellent career prospects while reaping the rewards of making a difference to others every day.Main duties and ResponsibilitiesLead on the provision of high quality care to service users admitted to Baldock wardAct as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staffTake overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the multidisciplinary teamAssess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service usersUndertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatmentConduct ward rounds, patient reviews & clinical auditsLead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governance within the serviceSupervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers hearings & attend hearingsLiaise with the Ministry of Justice for transfer of patients and approval of leave as requiredMaintain accurate patient recordsEnsure and maintain regular communications with the Site Medical Director and Hospital ManagerCommunicate effectively through regular contact with patients, relatives, staff, directors and other concerned bodies; maintaining appropriate reportsAttend and contribute to academic meetings and adhere to CPD standards set out by the GMC, the Department of Health and the Royal College of PsychiatristsContribute to telephone on‑call rotaWhy Cygnet?
