Location: Stockport Salary: Circa 35,000 (DOE) Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (with evening & weekend on-call cover on a rota basis)My client is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join a busy and well-established transport operation in Stockport. This is a key role within the operations team, responsible for planning and coordinating a general haulage fleet while ensuring compliance, efficiency, and strong commercial performance across both rigid and articulated vehicles.Key Responsibilities:Plan and allocate transport resources effectively to ensure smooth daily operations and maintain service levelsAdjust transport plans in response to operational changes, delays, or unexpected issuesCommunicate clearly with drivers regarding job allocations, updates, and end-of-day debriefsBuild and maintain strong relationships with customers, always ensuring a high level of serviceIdentify and develop opportunities to work with new customers and approved sub-contractorsMake sound commercial decisions when allocating work to sub-contractorsEnsure all vehicles and equipment are scheduled correctly and remain compliant with legal requirementsAccurately update and maintain transport management system (TMS) recordsWork closely with internal departments to support smooth and efficient operationsProvide out-of-hours support on a rota basis via telephoneCarry out general administrative duties to support the wider teamJob skills required:Strong understanding of driver hours and transport compliance regulationsGood geographical knowledge of the UK road networkConfident communicator, both written and verbalStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage changing prioritiesComfortable working under pressure in a busy environmentHigh attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of workCompetent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport systemsA team player who can also work independently when requiredAbility to build strong working relationships with drivers, customers, and suppliersPackage and benefits28 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)Company pension schemeFree on-site parkingStreamline Search is a technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the United Kingdom. xjdpvnf We are acting as a Recruitment Agency in relation to this vacancy, and in accordance with GDPR by applying to this post you are granting us consent to process your data and contact you in relation to this application.
