Locomotive ElectricianMinooka, IL$25.00 to $40.00 Full-Time | 1st Shift (overtime as needed)Job OverviewA well-established company is seeking a skilled Locomotive Electrician to support rebuild and maintenance operations. This role focuses on electrical diagnostics, full rewiring, and system installation on locomotives and heavy equipment. If you're strong with schematics, troubleshooting, and hands-on electrical work-this is a solid opportunity.Key ResponsibilitiesReceive and follow work instructions for assigned projectsDetermine materials, tools, and equipment needed for each jobInspect, maintain, and repair locomotives, road maintenance equipment, and facility systemsPerform electrical diagnostics using meters and testing equipmentTroubleshoot electrical issues and repair as neededDisassemble, repair, rebuild, and reinstall electrical components and systemsPerform complete rewiring of locomotivesMaintain and repair batteries, lighting circuits, crane circuits, air compressors, and facility systemsInstall aftermarket control systems, remote systems, and engine heating systemsRead and interpret electrical schematics and diagramsCommunicate inspection findings and repairs to supervisorsOperate forklifts and other shop equipmentMaintain a safe and organized work environmentQualifications & RequirementsValid Driver's License requiredHigh School Diploma or GED requiredTrade school or formal training in locomotive, diesel, or industrial electrical maintenance requiredMinimum 2+ years of locomotive electrical or industrial electrical experienceStrong ability to read and interpret schematics and wiring diagramsExperience with electrical testing equipment (multimeters, etc.)Comfortable working in a shop environment with heavy equipmentWhat We're Looking ForStrong electrical troubleshooting skillsAbility to handle full rewires and system installs confidentlyDetail-oriented and safety-focusedReliable, hands-on, and team-orientedBenefits (Express offers benefits from the first day of employment!)Medical, Dental, Vision insuranceLife insurancePaid sick timeWEEKLY payDirect DepositReferral bonus programExpress Employment of Ottawa & Morris is a locally owned and operated staffing company dedicated to helping job seekers find local work.
