Controller "” Women's Contemporary Fashion Brand$150,000-$200,000 + BonusNew York, NY | Hybrid (4 days onsite)Generous PTOFull-time | Privately OwnedA fast-growing, $100M contemporary women's fashion brand with strong ecommerce, retail, and wholesale channels is seeking a hands-on, operational Controller to lead the Accounting function and partner closely with executive leadership and reporting directly to CFO.This role is central to scaling the financial infrastructure of a multi-channel fashion business selling into top-tier department stores and specialty partners. You will oversee a lean, high-performing team"”including two direct reports across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable"”and serve as the operational anchor for all financial processes.What You'll LeadOwn the full accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely monthly financial statements, internal/external reporting, annual audits, and annual budgets.Prepare and review monthly departmental financials with senior leadership, providing insights that drive operational decisions.Manage and develop two direct reports across AP and AR, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong cross-functional communication.Oversee Accounts Payable, including vendor invoices, POs, petty cash, and employee expense reports.Lead HR, payroll, and benefits processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a smooth employee experience.Coordinate with external accountants on state sales tax filings, reconciliations, and compliance.Manage the company's factoring partnership and internal Accounts Receivable function, including AR aging, credit management, chargebacks, and deduction recovery.Maintain strong factor and banking relationships, optimizing cash flow and minimizing exposure.Produce weekly cash position and funding reports with precision and urgency.Prepare and maintain audit workpapers; serve as the primary contact for annual audits and shareholder K-1 issuance.Establish and strengthen internal controls, ensuring data integrity, process consistency, and operational efficiency across the business.Partner with leadership on annual budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and financial modeling.Support a wide range of special projects, analyses, and cross-functional initiatives.Uphold a high standard of professionalism, communication, and compliance across all accounting and operational workflows.What You BringApparel industry experience is required (contemporary preferred, but open to broader fashion backgrounds).Strong foundation in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.Experience leading accounting in a multi-channel environment (ecommerce, retail, wholesale).Highly fluent in Excel and ERP platforms, with the ability to move quickly across data and systems.Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus.Experience in fashion, retail, or consumer products strongly preferred.
