A global leader in business and technology services.Job Title: Mud EngineerLaunch Area:Broussard, LouisianaWork Location: Offshore - Gulf of MexicoDuration: 6 Months Contract (High chance of extension)Pay Rate: $40 - $50/hr on W2(inclusive all)+ OvertimeWork Schedule:12 hours/day, 7 days/week Rotation: 14/14 or 21/21 (possible 28/28) 100% Onsite (Offshore) Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Field Specialist III (Mud Engineer) to support offshore drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico. This role is responsible for managing drilling fluid systems, ensuring optimal performance, and providing technical expertise at customer well sites.The ideal candidate will have strong experience in water-based and oil-based mud systems, offshore operations, and the ability to work independently in high-pressure environments while maintaining strict safety and operational standards.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain drilling fluid properties through accurate testing and analysisSupervise fluid mixing and pumping operations at rig sitesProvide real-time technical support and updates to clients and internal teamsEnsure compliance with technical standards and operational proceduresMonitor and maintain inventory of drilling fluid materials and chemicalsTroubleshoot and resolve fluid-related issues during drilling operationsCollaborate with sales teams and support customer engagements onsiteMaintain accurate daily reports and documentation using reporting systemsEnsure strict adherence to HSE policies, environmental regulations, and safety standardsRequired QualificationsMinimum 5+ years of experience in drilling fluids / mud engineeringStrong expertise in:Water-Based Mud (WBM) systemsOil-Based Mud (OBM) systemsProven experience working in offshore drilling environmentsHands-on experience with:Fluid testing and analysisRig operationsInventory and materials managementStrong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and customer-facing skillsAbility to work independently on offshore rigsRequired CertificationsBOSIET / TBOSIET / HUET (Offshore Survival Training)Offshore Medical CertificateTWIC CardValid Driver's LicensePreferred SkillsExperience in synthetic-based mud systemsStrong understanding of drilling operations and well-site coordinationFamiliarity with digital reporting systems and basic computer toolsStrong team collaboration and interpersonal skillsWork EnvironmentOffshore rig environment (Gulf of Mexico)Physically demanding and safety-critical conditionsRequires ability to work long shifts and rotational schedulesAbout Trident ConsultingTrident Consulting is an award-winning staffing and consulting firm headquartered in San Ramon, CA.
