Position OverviewSOL-LA Music Academy is seeking a dedicated and inspiring Strings Teacher (violin, viola, and/or cello) to join our growing faculty. This role may include a combination of private lessons, group classes, ensemble coaching, and/or in-school programs across our partner sites, depending on the candidate's strengths and availability.We are looking for educators who combine strong musicianship with a deep commitment to student-centered teaching"”educators who can challenge students to achieve their best while fostering confidence, creativity, and joy in the learning process.Key ResponsibilitiesTeach weekly private lessons (beginner through advanced levels)Lead or assist with group classes and/or string ensemblesPrepare students for recitals, concerts, and community performancesDevelop structured, goal-oriented lesson plans aligned with SOL-LA's standards of excellenceFoster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environmentCommunicate regularly with students and families regarding progress and goalsCollaborate with faculty and administration to support program developmentQualificationsBachelor's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or equivalent experienceStrong proficiency on violin, viola, or celloExperience teaching students of various ages and levels (private and/or group settings)Excellent communication and classroom management skillsPassion for music education and working with young musiciansAbility to adapt teaching to meet diverse learning styles and needsPreferred:Experience in nonprofit or community music school settingsExperience with ensemble coaching or in-school programsCommitment to inclusive teaching practices and community engagementExperience with pedagogical approaches such as Suzuki, Kodály, Dalcroze, Colorstrings, or similar methodologiesSchedule & CompensationFlexible schedule based on availability and enrollmentMust be interested in building a teaching studio over time and available across multiple days per weekTeaching may include afternoons, evenings, and weekendsOpportunities for both in-school and after-school programsOpportunities for professional growth and expanded leadership responsibilities, including administrative and program development rolesCompensation: $60-$90/hour, commensurate with experienceWhy Join SOL-LABe part of a mission-driven organization committed to excellence, inclusivity, and community impactWork with a collaborative and supportive facultyOpportunities to engage in a variety of programs (private lessons, ensembles, school partnerships)Contribute to a growing organization dedicated to expanding access to high-quality music educationTo ApplyPlease submit a resume, cover letter, references, and (optional) teaching video via email to: javier.iglesias.martin@About SOL-LA Music AcademySOL-LA Music Academy is a 501(c)(3) community music school based in Santa Monica, serving students and families across the Westside and greater Los Angeles area.Our mission is to provide high-quality music instruction in a supportive environment while nurturing the whole student from early childhood onward.
