Pride Health is hiring a Specimen Technician to support our client's medical facility in Chicago IL 60616. It's a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!Job Title: Specimen TechnicianLocation: Chicago IL 60616Duration: 3 MonthsPay rate: $17.20/hourSchedule: 830am-5pm Monday-Friday with rotating Saturdays 9am-3pm (Training will be 12p-830p) The salary is determined by an individual's level of experience, as well as any relevant licenses and certifications they may hold.Key Responsibilities:Responsibilities:• Retrieve, sort and process specimens for shipment to referral laboratories.• Strong understanding of test ordering policies, hospital procedures, specimen requirements, sample preparation, and compliance/legal guidelinesKnowledge of hospital Laboratory Information System (LIS)Prints and reviews test reportsAbility to track and interpret specimen flow using reports and available toolsManages supply ordering processesPerforms remote accessioning (pre-accessioning) as requiredTroubleshoots issues related to specimen types, missing information, TIQ, TNP, and additional sample requestsResolves client-related issues within assigned responsibilitiesActs as a liaison between clients and the laboratory to provide proactive supportHandles inbound calls with a professional and positive approachCollaborates effectively with hospital laboratory staff, sales team, and internal departmentsCommunicates clearly about specimen issues, test cancellations, testing requirements, and billing requirementsQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.
