Summary of Position:The NPS Foundation Communications Specialist will play a key role in supporting Naval Postgraduate School Foundation's communications, branding and design efforts. Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Vice President of Strategic Alliances, this position will be responsible for multimedia content creation, graphic design and digital communications that engage key audiences including students and their families, alumni, faculty and staff, Department of Defense leadership, donors and industry partners.This role requires a strong eye for visual branding, confidence in writing and messaging, and experience creating content for digital platforms, particularly social media. Candidate must be prepared to share a portfolio showcasing creative work.·      Full-time (40 hours/week)·      Benefits includedLocation: Monterey, CA / In-officeReports to:Vice President of Strategic InitiativesVice President of Strategic AlliancesResponsibilities:Design and develop visually appealing, on-brand and effective materials, including:Print Materials:Brochures, fliers, posters, reports and other printed materials.Digital Graphics: Social media content, fliers, newsletters, email graphics and other online visuals. Video: Conduct video interviews with NPS students and faculty, primarily for social media, more extensive video editing experience a plusPlan and execute monthly written and in-person interviewsCurate and develop content for email newsletters, General monthly newsletter, Monthly Faces of NPS newsletter and specialized event blastsCoordinate with local and online printers to produce high-quality print materialsMaintain inventory of printed materials in the officeManage and execute a content calendar for social media channelsManage and upload news and event content to websiteSupport onsite campus community outreach and event communicationQualificationsBachelor's degree in Communications, Design or Related-Field or Equivalent ExperienceStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenStrong interpersonal skills and able to maintain and strengthen relationships with our community of supportersHighly organized and able to prioritize tasksExcellent time management skills and attention to detailProficient in design and video editing software (Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro; Canva, etc.)Proficient with or ability to learn Microsoft Office 365 tools (SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, Excel, Teams)Demonstrated initiative and ability to work both independently and collaborativelyPhysical Requirement and Work EnvironmentWork at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time each dayFrequent walking and standing required for on-campus eventsWork in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment requiring ability to deal with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and peopleOccasional early morning, evening or weekends may be required for Foundation events and campus activitiesAbility to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
