We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation Field Service Technician to join our team and support our mission of providing reliable, high-quality service.Job Title:Instrumentation Field Service TechnicianLocation:Springfield, OR with regional travel as neededEmployment Type: Full-TimeSalary: $45-$55/hr. based on experience & license held with benefits including health insurance, 401K retirement plan, life insurance and paid time off.Role Description: As an Instrumentation Field Service Technician at Cascade Automation, you will be responsible for installing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining instrumentation and control systems at client sites throughout Oregon, PNW and occasionally beyond. You will work closely with clients to ensure their systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused approach.Key Responsibilities:• Install, calibrate, and commission instrumentation systems, including pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters, controllers, and analyzers.• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal performance.• Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control systems to identify and resolve issues efficiently.• Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, provide technical guidance, and recommend solutions to improve system performance.• Read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications to ensure accurate installation and maintenance.• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards (e.g., ISA, NEC), and client-specific requirements.• Document service activities, including detailed reports on calibrations, repairs, and maintenance performed.• Work independently or as part of a team on field service projects, often in industrial environments such as paper mills, refineries, chemical plants or water treatment facilities.• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working condition.• Participate in occasional on-call rotations for emergency service needs.Qualifications:To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:• Associate’s degree or technical certification in instrumentation, electrical engineering technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as an instrumentation technician or in a related field service role.Oregon-Specific Requirements:• Valid Oregon driver’s license with a clean driving record (required for regional travel).• Ability to obtain an Oregon Limited Energy Technician license Class B or higher license within 6 months of hire, if not already certified.Technical Skills:• High proficiency in calibrating, installing and troubleshooting instrumentation devices (e.g., transmitters, controllers, analyzers, valves positioners)• Basic knowledge of industrial control systems, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.• Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA, NEC, and OSHA regulations.• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.• Experience with test equipment such as multimeters, calibrators, and HART/Fieldbus communicators.• Compliance with Oregon OSHA safety training requirements (training provided as needed).Additional Skills and Attributes:• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.• Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact with clients and team members.• Ability to work independently in the field and manage time effectively.• Physical ability to work in industrial environments, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces or at heights.• Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally work overtime or on-call shifts.Preferred Qualifications:• Prior experience in industries such as pulp and paper, wood products, chemical, water/wastewater, or oil and gas.• Familiarity with specific instrumentation brands such as Rosemount, Foxboro, Fisher, E&H and Siemens.• Experience with valve automation or repair (e.g., control valves, actuators).Why Join Cascade Automation?• Work with a reputable, locally-owned company in Springfield, OR, with a strong commitment to quality and community.• Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.• Opportunities for professional growth through training, certifications, and hands-on experience.• Supportive team environment with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.How to Apply:If you are a motivated and skilled Instrumentation Field Service Technician ready to join our team, please submit your resume and a cover letter to sales@In your cover letter, briefly describe your experience with instrumentation systems and why you’re excited to work with Cascade Automation.Cascade Automation is an Equal Opportunity Employer including disability and protected veteran status.
