Using a TIG-welding process (by machine) this person welds stainless steel cylinders; in addition, they will train to perform hand-weld repairs. In addition to operating the welding equipment, the person assists with the responsibilities of a Machine Operator I. The company reserves the right to rotate employees to other departments or work assignments within the organization as needed based upon skill set, production needs, etc.How you will do itOperates highly complex machinery used in the production process. From prints, adjusts and tig welds stainless steel shells and components.Performs semi-complex machine set-ups; loads welder with component parts to be welded.Ensures machines are operating at required capacity and that production requirements are met.Monitors the performance of equipment; identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves problems in order to maintain efficient operations.Observes machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance production. Monitors controls of welder (temp, cycle time, amps-volts, etc.)Recognizes process upset; both special and common cause, and notifies the appropriate person.Assists in preparing and maintain scorecards, Gemba Boards, etc., so that performance problems can be identified and resolved.Assists maintenance team in basic troubleshooting and equipment malfunctioning diagnostics.Maintains equipment and performs preventive maintenance notifying Group Leader/Maintenance personnel if welding machine malfunctions.Visually inspects welds to assure that blueprints, code and quality standards are met.Supporting the training and development of peers within the organization.Performs assembly, packaging, housekeeping and other related duties as may be assigned by the Group Leader or supervisor.QUALIFICATIONSMust be 18 years of age and have a HS Diploma or equivalent. Must have reading, writing and simple math skills. Must be able to read blue prints. Must have previous experience working as a Machine Operator I within Stainless Steel. Must have welding experience and knowledge of TIG welding as would be shown by the passing of a hands-on competency test; the knowledge one might get from a vocational school course is helpful.ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, AND SAFETY OBLIGATIONSComply with the following Environmental, Health and Safety duties as a condition of employment:Comply with safety rulesAttend and Participate in Safety TrainingParticipate actively in the safety processAsk questions if something isn’t knownReport all accidents and injuries immediatelySubmit suggestions to improve safetyKnow responsibilities in the event of an emergency (i.e. what to do in the event of an alarm for fire, chemical spills, tornados, etc.)Be a coach to others who are acting unsafelyMust have Lock-out tagsAttend and participate in all hazardous and non-hazardous waste trainings.Ability to recognize chemical hazardous labels.Spill management and clean-up.Air shutoff locations.Capability to follow satellite accumulation rules and requirements.Proficiency to recognize hazardous wastes in your area and manage properly.HIRING HOURLY RANGE: Training rate $23.16, certified rate of pay $25.40 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
