It is important for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, sanitizing, and tidying the premises. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep, general maintenance, janitorial work, and have good physical endurance to cover a large space. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs. Clean restrooms and sanitize sinks, toilets, and urinalsSweep and mop floors and replenish paper products, i.e., restroomsSalt walkways during winter monthsPick up trash and empty all trash containers Lawn care, i.e., pull weedsDust all furniture, chairs, desks, filing cabinets, and wall hangings (artwork)Clean carpeted areas as neededMop linoleum floors and sweep all carpeted areasClean all glass (inside/out) doors, windows, and mirrorsChange light bulbs as neededClean mini blinds as neededSet up conference/meeting/show/event rooms with tables, chairs, etc. as neededSecure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows, and setting up the alarmUndertake other occasional custodial and janitorial tasks as requestedWhat you need to be successful: HS Diploma or GED requiredMinimum 1-2 years proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role Custodian experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferredKnowledge of use of cleaning equipment and appliancesAttention to detail and conscientiousnessVery good physical condition and strengthWhy The Shyft Group?Our people are our greatest asset, and your success is our success!
