Description Job DescriptionLeidos is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join our Maritime Systems Division in Long Beach, MS. This role involves designing and integrating advanced electrical power systems for next-generation platforms, including manned and unmanned maritime applications. Candidates with experience in industrial, commercial, or defense-related electrical systems are encouraged to apply.The successful candidate will contribute to both new system development and upgrades of existing platforms. Familiarity with challenging environmental conditions, regulatory compliance, and hands-on system commissioning is highly valued.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop electrical power systems, including AC/DC distribution, switchgear, and control systemsCreate and update electrical schematics and layouts using AutoCADEnsure designs meet applicable standards such as IEEE, ABS, DNV, USCG, and IMOCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical subsystems into larger platformsSupport prototype development, testing, and deploymentConduct verification and validation of electrical systemsPrepare technical documentation including test plans, reports, and design packagesTroubleshoot and optimize systems for performance and reliabilityRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline3+ years of professional experience in electrical system design and integrationProficiency in AutoCAD for electrical documentationSolid understanding of analog/digital circuits and power distributionWillingness to travel for field testing and system integrationStrong communication and documentation skillsAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance, requires US CitizenshipPreferred QualificationsExperience with marine, industrial, or defense electrical systemsFamiliarity with PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), SCADA, and embedded control systemsKnowledge of MIL-STD design practices and regulatory compliancePrior involvement in DoD or government programsUnderstanding of cybersecurity principles for control systemsFamiliarity with industrial networking protocols (e.g., Modbus, CANbus, NMEA 2000)At Leidos, we don’t want someone who "fits the mold"—we want someone who melts it down and builds something better.
