Position/Dept Summary: Working in Environmental Services makes you an integral part of our hospital. With a tremendous amount of opportunity for growth and excellent benefits, you’ll be able to shape your career and build a future here at Boston Children's Hospital.**Schedule will be 7-330pm Monday through Friday and every other weekend and holidays** Key Responsibilities:Performing hard floor care: dust mops, damp mops, stripping, waxing, and refinishing floors; performing spray buffingCleaning carpets and furniture. vacuuming, doing spot removal and shampoosCleaning and maintaining assigned areas including stairwells and elevatorsOperating electric and battery powered equipment for cleaning services and rearranging of furniture/equipmentPicking up supplies and packing regulated medical wasteWearing protective clothing as required (i.e.: surgery dress code, medical waste packing, ribavirin and/or isolation precautions, etc.)Responding to floods and other emergencies, drying and cleaning facilities and equipment as directedUsing equipment to respond to emergency as directed and in accordance with hospital and department protocols to ensure personal and environmental safety is protectedEducation: Experience:A min of 6 months of experience as a floor care technician 1 or equivalent experienceAbility to operate powered machinery in a safe and effective mannerThe ability to read and understand written instructions in EnglishThe ability to understand and respond to moderately complex written or verbal instructions in EnglishThe ability to respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information. Work requires contact with patients and/or visitors which involves courtesyThe ability to work with diverse internal and external constituenciesEnvironmental Service positions are currently eligible for a sign-on bonus of $1,000*The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
