Position Summary: The Phlebotomy Manager is responsible for cultivating a teamwork environment among staff that is patient-centered and focuses on providing a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring the delivery of compassionate care, acceptable turn-around-time and accurate patient results. Essential Functions: • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Exhibits and adheres to WMC's Standards of Performance in all areas of job duties and responsibilities. • Participates in hospital initiatives and in departmental goals set by the Laboratory Director and staff. • Interacts professionally with management, laboratory personnel, physicians, hospital personnel, patients and customers to provide optimal patient care. • Works well with other laboratory employees to maintain an environment of teamwork. • Exercises all laboratory safety precautions and adheres OSHA and TOSHA safety regulations • Maintains working knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures. • Maintains current knowledge and adheres to hospital policies and state, federal and other regulatory requirements • Responsible for the training oversight of new non-technical employees and students as assigned. • Manages the operational functions of designated laboratory areas on a daily basis and handles human resource issues as requested by the laboratory director. • Facilitates process improvement projects and serves on teams/committees as needed. • Responsible for laboratory outreach business which includes obtaining new outpatient laboratory business and regular visits/phone calls to current clients. Responsible for working with nursing home director of nursing and physician office practice managers to provide optimal laboratory services and follows through with outpatient complaints. • Responsible for adherence to laboratory compliance guidelines and provides on-going education to laboratory staff regarding laboratory compliance. • Works with coordinators in assigned areas to maintain proper staffing and effective operations. • Serves as a mentor and coach to laboratory staff. • Other duties as needed/assigned. Position Requirements: Formal Education / Training: • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; AS preferred.
