The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.POSITION SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs MRI procedures at a technical level that does not require direct supervision over technical detail. Uses independent judgment, ingenuity and acquired knowledge to obtain quality diagnostic images. Assists with interventional procedures.COMPETENCIES:· Must be fully knowledgeable of MRI exams and procedures and capable of performing exams independently.· Complete working knowledge in the principles of physics, anatomy, medical terminology, sterile technique, and safety as it relates to MRI practices.· Strong written and verbal communication with co-workers and patients using the English language to communicate appropriately and clearly to team leader, co-workers, and other members of the health care team.· Work cooperatively with department staff by sharing in taking rotational call and holiday hours.· Occasional travel to other business sites is necessary to fulfill the responsibility of the position.· Occasionally required to move objects over 100 lbs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Performs all types of MRI scans and procedures with demonstrated competency.2. Reviews each exam for technical accuracy.3. Assures patient’s clinical data coincides with and matches the type of exam that is being ordered. Follow’s up with Doctor’s office when exam ordering is in question and does not seem reasonable given the patients clinical record.4. Accurately completes computer (Meditech) patient procedure documentation. Assures the accuracy of documentation understanding that all items will be charged to the patient’s hospital bill.5. Submits correctly documented and labeled exam to the Radiologist and is available for review and discussion.6. Follows department protocols with safety guidelines for screening anyone entering MRI area according to ACR MRI safety guidelines and the Joint Commission.7. Follows through on all exams that may need to return for additional screening.8. Demonstrates skill and required to perform IV insertion.9. May be required to mentor new staff in educating them on workflow, equipment, and competency.10. Reviews post instruction with the patient such as picking up films/CD for follow up appointment and/or if a hold up may occur with their results if waiting for outside films.11. Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot electronic equipment including, but not limited to, scanners, workstations, and printers.12. Independently runs one’s own schedule and properly documents patient flow while remaining sensitive to patient care and other coworker’s needs and desires. Remains flexible in patient flow in order to accommodate daily emergency calls and requests for inpatient procedures.13. Assists in obtaining transportation for patients when procedures are scheduled by internal Hospitalists, Physicians, etc.14. Independently responds on a call basis to perform procedures.15. Works at affiliates and/or contracted locations to provide services as required.16. Works cooperatively and always exhibits Core Values in order to accomplish all tasks as a member of the Medical Imaging Team.17. Rotational call hours and holiday hours may be required.
