Our team, backed by Y-Combinator and from a celebrity roster of tech executives, including Doordash cofounder Stanley Tang, Gmail creator Paul Buchheit and Twitch cofounder Justin Kan, is scaling the cannabis supply chain with technology with the ultimate goal of becoming the largest distributor of cannabis products in the world.    The Role Nabis is looking for a Senior Tax Consultant to support the Corporate Tax Senior Manager across multiple tax functions, including Federal, State and Local Tax (SALT), Indirect Tax, and tax-related internal reviews. This role is best suited for someone with strong technical tax expertise who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and is eager to take ownership of key tax processes as we expand. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable researching tax and compliance issues, managing projects, and working independently with minimal oversight. This position offers exposure to multi-state tax compliance, tax strategy, and process optimization, making it a great opportunity for someone looking to grow in a dynamic industry.   Responsibilities: Federal Tax Compliance - Assist with the preparation of federal taxable income calculations, supporting workpapers, and related schedules. State and Local Tax (SALT) Compliance - Support sales tax, excise tax, gross receipts tax, and other state and local tax filings across multiple jurisdictions. Indirect Tax & Compliance - Ensure proper tax treatment of cannabis-related transactions and stay ahead of evolving regulations. Tax Risk & Internal Reviews: Perform tax-related internal reviews to identify compliance risks, validate accuracy of filings, and ensure adequate documentation and controls. Tax Research & Documentation - Research federal, state, and local tax developments; prepare concise summaries and recommendations outlining compliance impacts and action items. Technical Memos & Position Documentation: Assist in drafting tax position memos and internal documentation to support compliance positions, audits, and financial reporting conclusions. Audit Support & Tax Provision Preparation: Support tax provision calculations and audit requests by preparing schedules, reconciling data, and responding to auditor inquiries. Notice & Correspondence Management: Assist with responding to federal, state, and local tax notices, including research, documentation gathering, and resolution tracking. Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with finance, accounting, operations, and product teams to integrate tax requirements into business processes. Project Management - Lead and support tax-related initiatives, ensuring deadlines are met and new processes are implemented effectively. Qualifications: Experienced Tax Professional - Second year tax senior in public accounting [4+ years of experience] or 6+ years tax/accounting roles within a corporate setting. Technical Expertise - Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance in a multi-state environment, including experience with ASC 740. Indirect tax experience preferred, but not required. Proactive & Solution-Oriented - Capable of identifying tax issues, conducting research, and implementing solutions independently. Strong Research Skills - Comfortable navigating tax laws and translating complex regulations into actionable guidance. Project Management Skills - Able to prioritize, drive initiatives, and manage deadlines effectively.
