Description Strongly preferred: A candidate that has lots of experience with scratch cooking, and who can read and follow recipes. This job position will be a 90% scratch kitchen.Location: UCHealth CeDAR - Aurora, CODepartment: CeDARFTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)Shift: Day and Evening Rotation Pay: $19.10 - $24.83 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experienceThe Hospital Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality, nutritious meals that support patient care and overall wellness in a healthcare environment. This position plays a critical role in a predominantly scratch kitchen (approximately 90%), preparing foods from fresh ingredients while following standardized recipes, production schedules, and therapeutic diet guidelines. The ideal candidate has strong scratch-cooking experience, the ability to read and accurately follow recipes, and a commitment to food safety, consistency, and excellence in a hospital setting.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook menu items primarily from scratch in accordance with standardized recipes, production sheets, and portion control requirements.Accurately read, follow, and execute recipes, including adjustments for batch sizes, special diets, and modified textures.Prepare foods that meet therapeutic diet requirements, allergen restrictions, and patient-specific needs under established guidelines.Ensure food quality, taste, appearance, and temperature meet hospital standards prior to service.Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control policies in compliance with regulatory requirements.Properly store, label, date, and rotate food items to maintain freshness and minimize waste.Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance or safety concerns as needed.Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area throughout all phases of food preparation.Collaborate effectively with food service team members to support efficient meal production and service.Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and schedules while supporting a patient-centered food service operation.Requirements:Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED, or in lieu of HS/GED, satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test is required.
