Provides technical training and guidance to other staff personnel as assigned. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs. Performs preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs as required on equipment such as exhaust fans, chilled water pumps, cooling towers, etc. according to manufacturer’s specifications, departmental procedures and regulatory requirements. Installs, maintains and repairs new and existing mechanical systems and equipment such as sterilizers, vacuum pumps, motors, blowers, fans, appliances, dishwashers, emergency generators, convection and microwave ovens, washers, dryers, circulators, compressors, regulators, trash trucks, etc. , according to departmental procedures, manufacturer’s specifications and regulatory requirements. Reads and interprets equipment manuals, written specifications, work orders, mechanical and architectural drawings, schematics, etc. Prepares material lists and purchase requisitions for materials, equipment and systems required for assigned projects in accordance with plan specifications and design, departmental procedures, etc. Modifies blueprints according to departmental procedures for use in the preparation of record drawings representing “as-built” drawings. Coordinates mechanical work schedule with other trade mechanics on site such as electricians, HVAC mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, etc., to ensure timely completion of projects.
