Job SummaryThe Ready-Mix Plant Superintendent is responsible for the overall supervision of one or more ready-mix plants or departments. Main duties will include production oversight, operational improvements, and employee leadership with strong emphasis on safety and environmental compliance. That’s why we give you a wide range of benefits to choose from.  All regular full time employees may enroll in a variety of health and welfare plans including medical, dental and vision plans.  Other benefits include life insurance, disability coverage, employee assistance program, and retirement program.  The company also has a variety of voluntary benefits for employees to choose from.CompensationAnnual Salary $90,000 to $120,000. ResponsibilitiesOversee ready-mix plant operation activitiesSupervise up to 20 employeesComply with and enforces governmental rules and regulations, Union Contract, company policies and proceduresCoordinate, consult and maintain continuity of Plant operations with General Manager, Quality Control and MaintenanceProvide safety training and development of all personnel, including training, certifications, staffing and performance evaluationsEnforce all Safety and Environmental programs and policiesEnvironmental, OSHA, MSHA, Department of Transportation (DOT) and other regulatory complianceInvolvement with Capital Equipment budgetingOversee plant and equipment maintenanceClose collaboration with General Manager in areas of goal-setting, sales, customer service, and staff developmentDirect, coach and develop employees and ensure company policy complianceAnnual budgeting for locationsOversee truck shops at locationsTrack productivity, produce reports and perform analytics as requiredEducationBS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mining or Civil Engineering or equivalent field a plusAny relevant operations management certifications, i.e. industry specific management trainingRequirements/QualificationsMinimum 5-7 years’ experience running a ready-mix operation, including ancillary functions such yard production and product deliveryExperience with OSHA/MSHA regulations and requirementsKnowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirementsExperience managing groups of employees in one or more locationsExperience implementing training programs for drivers including driving technique, truck maintenance, product delivery, ticketing, payments and customer servicePersonnel management experience, i.e. hiring and selection, performance reviews, wage issues, discipline, and legal compliance requirements a plusKnowledge of office systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills aptitudeStrong oral and written communications skills aptitudeCustomer service orientationPreferred:Experience in a vertically integrated construction materials organization preferredExperience with SAPConditions of EmploymentSuccessful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
