We offer end-to-end solutions—from design and installation to ongoing maintenance and emergency support—helping clients maximize building performance, energy efficiency, and equipment lifespan.Position SummaryThe Commercial Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial electrical projects, including new construction, renovations, and service contracts. This role analyzes project plans, specifications, and scope to develop detailed labor, material, and equipment estimates. The Estimator collaborates with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure competitive, profitable, and timely bids while maintaining compliance with codes, standards, and company policies.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents for commercial electrical projectsPrepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costsIdentify project risks, potential change orders, and cost-saving opportunitiesCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify scope and requirementsMaintain and update historical cost data, vendor pricing, and estimating databasesPrepare bid proposals, take-offs, and supporting documentation for submittalEnsure estimates comply with applicable electrical codes, standards, and company policiesAttend pre-bid meetings and site visits as neededProvide technical guidance and support to project teams regarding estimate assumptionsTrack and report estimating metrics and bid results to managementQualifications3+ years of commercial electrical estimating experienceStrong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, codes, and standards (NEC, NFPA, local codes)Proficiency in electrical estimating software (e.g., Accubid, ConEst, or similar)Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawingsExcellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsEffective communication and collaboration skillsExperience with budgeting, project cost tracking, and value engineeringBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferredValid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as requiredBenefits:Competitive salary based on experience.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Paid time off and holiday pay.Opportunities for professional development and certification assistance.Equal Employment Opportunity:Upchurch Companies provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants.
