Overview: GovCIO is currently hiring for a Security Engineer to support modernization efforts. This position will be located in Hampton, VA at Joint Base Langley-Eustis and will be a fully onsite position. Responsibilities: We are seeking a Security Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure digital infrastructures. You will develop and enforce security protocols, operate and enhance cybersecurity systems, and ensure the protection and resilience of the organization’s information assets. Also, be responsible for maintaining a robust security posture across all environments while supporting both internal and external stakeholders with expert guidance and technical oversight. This position is located at Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Virginia. Key Responsibilities Develop, execute and track the performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure and computer systemsDesign computer security strategy and engineering comprehensive cybersecurity architectureIdentify, define and document system security requirements and recommend solutions to managementConfigure, troubleshoot and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.Install software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.Monitor systems for irregular behavior and set up preventive measuresPlan, develop, implement and update company’s information security strategyEducate and train staff in information system security best practices Qualifications: High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience)Required Skills and ExperienceClearance: TS SCIActive TS/SCI EligibilityExpert knowledge in fundamental and advanced cyber security DoD 8140 IAM Level III certification (CISSP, GSLC, CISM) Proven experience developing, operating and maintaining security systemsExtensive knowledge of operating systems and database securityProficiency in networking technologies, network security and network monitoring solutionsKnowledge of security systems including anti-virus applications, content filtering, firewalls, authentication systems and intrusion detection and notification systemsIn-depth knowledge of security protocols and principlesCritical thinking skills and ability to solve complex problemsPreferred Skills and Experience Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related fieldProficient in secure network architectures, encryption technologies and standards, application security, virtualization technologies and secure coding practices.
