Position:  Heavy Equipment Technician (Forklift Mechanic)Pay Rate: up up to $35.00 per hourSchedule: M-F 8am - 4:30pmJob Description:Forward Air, Inc. is looking for a self-motivated individual to join the maintenance team as a full time heavy equipment technician. Duties include all aspects of vehicles, trailers, and other mechanical equipment of Forward Air, while adhering to the compliance of all Forward Air Policies, safe work practices, and high customer service.Core Duties & Responsibilities:Evaluate status of mechanical equipment, trailers and vehicles, and performs or schedules needed repairsMaintain equipment according to DOT regulationsPerform routine truck, trailer, and/or forklift P.M.sResponsible for Hydraulic and Transmission repairPreventive maintenanceLP fuel system diagnosis and repairElectrical system diagnostics and repairConduct various analysis and inspections of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical systems to determine the most cost effective means of maintenance, repair, or replacementMaintain regular and dependable attendanceMaintain work area, tools, and equipmentOperate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven toolsPerform minor building and facility maintenancePerform Data Entry in Maintenance Software to track repairsKeep shop and company tools clean and in good working orderOther duties as assignedRequirements:Strong mechanical aptitudeHave own tools and equipmentDesire for a long-term career with an industry leading companyAbility to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast paced environmentProactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departmentsMust be willing to work a flexible schedule (extended hours as required)Class A CDL a plusSkills:Ideal candidate will possess a “can do" attitude with a “will do" work ethicMust have the ability to work in a fast paced environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsForward Air is an Equal Opportunity employer. Since 1990, Forward Air has been a leading provider of ground transportation and related logistics services to the North American air freight and expedited LTL market.
