Position SummaryManages all facets of mechanical ventilation and is a resource for respiratory care staff and health care team across all settings for CAPE patients. Provides various non-invasive and invasive respiratory therapies in inpatient, outpatient and emergency settings for all CAPE patients. Participation with the multidisciplinary CAPE staff on regular outpatient clinic sessions, home visit, off-site sessions at long-term care facilities.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelops, monitors, and maintains respiratory therapy standards of practice associated with the care of respiratory technology-dependent patients.Develops, provides, and evaluates inpatient and outpatient education programs for clinical staff, patients, patients’ family members, and continuing care agencies. This includes internal CAPE programming as well as collaboration within the BCH system and affiliates.Monitors operations and statistics of the CAPE Program, to ensure the attainment of program goals, compliance with regulatory agencies, and quality improvement initiatives.Participates in professional development, and assists with the attainment of operational objectives for the BCH Respiratory Care Department.Provides leadership to inpatient and outpatient clinical settings and serves as program representative to committees and the hospital community.Serves as a liaison and respiratory educator for community based services, including but not limited to rehabilitation programs, durable medical equipment companies, home nursing agencies, school programs for support of CAPE Program enrollees and their families.Actively participates in the multidisciplinary collaborations within the CAPE Program as well as multidisciplinary clinics and centers which include CAPE.Engage in daily process for care coordination of CAPE enrollees and work with the CAPE leadership and other staff to improve structure and process to improve efficiency, efficacy and outcomes.Monitors and evaluates remote ventilator/equipment, patient usage and physiologic indices via available web platforms as needed Participates in scheduled (and as needed) inpatient care coordination meetings for CAPE patients (e.g., Proactive Case Management Rounds for MSICU) to anticipation discharge needs and optimization of disposition.Attends inpatient discharge / care coordination meetings for CAPE patients in preparation for community transition and collaborates with the BCH and DME Respiratory Staff to assure proper equipment and education is provided.Participate in CAPE inpatient rounds with MD, SW, NP and RN.Minimum Qualifications7 years of previous experience as a licensed respiratory therapist with a minimum of 3 years in a pediatric specialty.The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
