The Surgical Technologist Lead assists the team of medical professional with the most complex of procedures in and out of an area of specialty under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Providing subject matter expert, this role serves as a global resource in order to educate staff members and improve quality of care and operations. Essential Job Function Anticipates and meets the instrument, equipment, and supply needs of the Operating Room based on the upcoming surgery schedule.Ensures that equipment is kept sterile in order to maintain asepsis by correcting any breaks in technique.Coaches and trains surgical team on specialty competencies and universal safety precautions to develop skills in anatomy and physiology.Supports the daily operations of the surgical team by updating preference lists and contributing to quality assurance and improvement activities in order to increase efficiency.Collaborates with the Surgical team in the Operating Room by reporting changes in a patient's condition in order to update the care plan as needed.Ensures competency completion for Surgical Technologists as well as works to achieve and support department goals and objectives by serving on a committee.Performs other duties as assigned. Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of a Surgical Technology accredited through ARC/STSA or equivalent military training with surgical tech experience Experience Required: 5 years of surgical technologist experience.Licensure/Certification/Listing Required:BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderCST (Certified Surgical Technologist) from The Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. Surgical Technologists hired prior to 12/31/2017 will have the certification requirement waived. If the CST credential was held on 12/31/17, credential must be maintained without lapse.
