IWT is committed to providing innovative engineering and technical consultation to various governmental defense agencies and public safety equipment manufacturers.*Summary*Job Description: RF Solutions ArchitectPosition SummaryThe RF Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and guiding the implementation of advanced radio frequency (RF) systems and wireless solutions. This role bridges technical engineering expertise with strategic customer engagement, ensuring that RF designs meet performance, compliance, and business requirements across diverse applications (defense, public safety, industrial IoT, and telecom).Key Responsibilities* Lead the design of end-to-end RF and wireless solutions, including spectrum selection, antenna design, propagation modeling, link budgets, and system integration.* Develop architectures for mesh, point-to-point, and point-to-multipoint wireless systems.* Ensure RF solutions meet functional, environmental, and regulatory requirements (FCC, ETSI, DoD, IECEx/ATEX, etc.).* Guide cross-functional teams (RF, hardware, software, systems engineering) in solution development.* Translate customer requirements into system-level RF specifications and technical proposals.* Oversee RF performance modeling, simulation, and field validation.* Work directly with clients to assess needs, develop solution architectures, and present design trade-offs.* Serve as the technical authority during proposals, bids, and program reviews.* Provide technical support for business development and strategic partnerships.* Ensure solutions comply with relevant wireless communication standards (LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, proprietary mesh protocols).* Oversee certification processes (FCC Part 15/90, MIL-STD, UL/IEC standards, etc.).* Evaluate emerging technologies (software-defined radios, advanced modulation schemes, MIMO, beamforming).* Provide strategic input into RF roadmap, ensuring scalability, resilience, and long-term performance.* Develop proof-of-concept systems and prototypes for new applications.Required Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (Master's preferred).* 8-12+ years of RF engineering experience, with at least 3-5 in a solutions architect or systems architect role.* Proven expertise in RF system design, wireless communication protocols, and spectrum management.* Hands-on experience with RF design tools (Keysight ADS, CST, HFSS, MATLAB, EMPro).* Strong understanding of mesh networking, propagation models, and interference mitigation.* Experience with government/defense RF systems, industrial wireless, or carrier-grade networks.* Must be a US citizen, holding no dual citizenshipsDesired Skills* Knowledge of industrial IoT, mining/energy communications, or defense wireless environments.* Ability to write technical proposals, white papers, and present to executive and customer audiences.* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to bridge technical depth with strategic vision.* Experience mentoring engineering teams and interfacing with program managers.EEOJob Type: Full-timeBenefits:* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Paid time off* Tuition reimbursement* Vision insuranceApplication Question(s):* Candidate must be a US citizen, holding no dual citizenships.Ability to Commute:* Lynchburg, VA 24504 (Required)Ability to Relocate:* Lynchburg, VA 24504: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)Willingness to travel:* 25% (Preferred)Work Location: In person
