*Job Title: Shop Mechanic*Read the overview of this opportunity to understand what skills, including and relevant soft skills and software package proficiencies, are required.*Department:* Maintenance / Fleet Services*Reports To:* Shop Supervisor*Location:* Roth Trucking 2135 Dakota Craft Dr Rapid City SD 57701*Employment Type:* Full-Time*Wage Range:* $20.00 - $40.00 per hour (depending on experience and certifications)*Position Summary:*Roth Trucking, Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable *Shop Mechanic* to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on company vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with diesel engines, heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related systems. This position is essential to keeping our fleet safe, compliant, and operational.*Key Responsibilities:** Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and related equipment.* Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and manuals.* Complete brake jobs, engine repairs, transmission servicing, tire replacements, and other mechanical tasks.* Maintain accurate service records and complete repair orders using UpKeep or other maintenance platforms.* Ensure all work is done in compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA safety standards, and company policies.* Communicate with the Shop Supervisor regarding needed repairs, parts, and work timelines.* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.* Assist in emergency repairs or on-call duties as needed.* Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.*Qualifications:** High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification preferred.* Minimum 2 years of experience in a heavy-duty truck or diesel repair environment.* Familiarity with diagnostic tools and repair procedures for diesel engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.* Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.* Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality.* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.*Wage & Benefits:** *Wage:* $20.00 - $40.00 per hour* Health, dental, and vision insurance* 401(k) up to 5% double match.* Continued training and advancement opportunities*Work Environment:** Work performed primarily in a shop setting, with occasional outdoor work.* Use of standard mechanic tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment.* Exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and shop chemicals.* Occasional weekend or extended hours depending on workload and fleet needs.*Roth Trucking, Inc.* is an equal opportunity employer.
