The posted salary range does not reflect this reduction.Job Description And DutiesThis position supports the California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by providing statewide complex nursing and program consultation to the California Prenatal Screening (PNS) Program.The incumbent works under the general direction of the Health Program Manager (HPM) II, Chief of the Prenatal Screening Section. The Nurse Consultant (NC) III (Specialist) provides professional guidance on the planning for Program expansion, the development of Program policies and standards, the monitoring of PNS coordinators (contract staff such as registered nurses or genetic counselors) at regional Program offices, and the evaluation and implementation of policies and standards.Desirable QualificationsIn addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:Chart review and case audit experienceClear communication skills (in person, via teleconference, and in writing)Conference planning and organizationPolicy implementationTeam building and collaborationPossession of a California Driver's License preferred but not required.Eligibility InformationIf you are new to California State Service, you must take and pass the examination for this classification to be eligible for hire.
